Artist statement for ‘Estuaries & Passages’
The Australian landscape is an inescapable presence in all my art, and the foundation of each painting. For ‘Estuaries & Passages’, I have looked farther afield, and this body of work includes some remote landscapes, and inspiration drawn from a recent Kimberley holiday.
The love of texture characterises my paintings and together with colour and light provides a pathway to convey a simple and honest account of various settings.
Georgie Gall has been a practising artist for over twenty years, and has work in public and private collections in Australia, Hong Kong, the USA and UK.
Her most recent previous exhibition at The Hive was the 2024 ‘Contours’ and in 2022 ‘Dawn to Dusk’ which was an important fund-raiser for the Royal Melbourne Hospital.
