GERMINATE

A favourite event, the annual ceramics exhibition continues to grow but stays true to its evolving themes. In 2025 nine artists explore ‘a further blossoming of ideas and deeper connections to nature’, in ‘Germinate‘.

We introduce exciting emerging talent Cindy Tong of Gippsland, and experienced and recognised Glenn England of Melbourne. We bring back our community of local and regional and Melbourne based artists that have explored this theme for a year, bouncing off each other and pushing boundaries for themselves with a gorgeous comraderie.

Ann Ferguson of Castlemaine, locals Kirsty Manger, Karen Steenbergen, Sophia Legoe and Melbourne based Bridget Foley, Lee Goller and Lene Kuhl Jakobsen all join us.

See germination from the beginning – the origins of the earth and oceans, the shells that have evolved with them, banksias and gumnuts,-  seeds that germinate, the impact of bushfire and regeneration on such seedpods and bark, the critters and collections that form leaf litter in the dry forests of Melbourne, and stop, listen, observe, wait, to discover all this in the gallery and in other moments with new life and nature. All of this is explored.

As a post note, unfortunately Glenn England’s original pieces were stolen from her car the week prior to the exhibition. Her substitute works belong with the theme, which is why we invited Glenn to exhibit in the first place, however we express our disappointment for Glenn that the key pieces were taken.
