Kate Gorman has a background in fashion design and completed her formal studies in Visual Arts & Design in 2006. She is the recipient of various awards including the 2015, 2012 & 2010 King Valley Art Show, the 2015, 2014 Wodonga Art Prize and 2009 Wangaratta Jazz Art Award.
Kate works in an expressive, painterly technique, building layers of vibrant colour in an abstract style. Travel is a major influence and capturing the essence of a place in the art – it’s vibrancy, culture, architecture, food and people and the experiences of memories and life.
Her first solo exhibition at The Hive, “DREAMING” was a calm, tranquil body of work on mood and experiences that allow reflection. In conjunction with Lon Retreat in November 2021, “COASTAL WALK” was a very special and extensive exhibition across two venues. It was inspired by the gardens of Lon and the natural landscapes and tones of the beautiful Bellarine Peninsula.
