Kirsty Manger

Kirsty Manger is inspired by her local surrounds, like the cliffs of the south east Victorian coast around Jan Juc where she lives, – these are highlighted in her Strata Series and her Shell Series, which form a beautiful reminder of the complexities of life. Erosion has been explored in the Contour series, and flora in Impressions.

Kirsty Manger is the ceramic artist behind Yum Design Ceramics working from her home studio in Jan Juc on the Surf Coast. She enjoys project based ceramic art commissions including public art, community art, tableware, architectural ceramic tile murals, pendant lighting and basins. She also teaches ceramics at her home studio.

“Each piece draws on my love of nature and is designed to create a “sense of place.” They are art works, in that they are innovative and combine interesting forms with beautiful surfaces. “

Kirsty delights in exploring and portraying a concept, with a strength in her glazes and texture that complete the piece. Her work has recently been recognised with the ‘Shadow Series’ featuring as a finalist in the Klytie Pate Ceramics Award, 2023.

Kirsty has been part of all the Hive’s Group Ceramic Exhibitions from 2020 onwards, including HABITAT in 2024 with the Bivalve series.  ‘FLOW – stories of the wetlands’ June 2024 also resulted in a series of pneumatophore inspired works. 2024 also saw the Silhouette series develop further inspired by local cliffs in the region. Most recently, an extension of her Shell Series in 2025 for ‘Germinate’.
