The desire to “portray” is inherent in every artist.
Appreciate this in our annual Group Sculpture Exhibition with new work to the gallery from Lucy McEachern, Beatrice Magalotti, Laura Jane Wylder, Bruce Webb and George Lianos.
We also welcome Trevor Carter from Melbourne -Naarm, to The Hive.
“My Father had a natural aptitude for drawing and painting, his love of colour and dimension filtered down to me and ultimately with his encouragement I developed a passion for art.
For the last decade, Trevor is at a point in life that allows the opportunity to reignite and explore his first passion for the visual arts and sculpture in various mediums that had previously been in the background to his chosen career.
“Taking my inspiration from the beaches close to my home, and the natural beauty of the human form.”
Trevor is an awarded member of the Victorian Association of sculptors along with Bruce Webb and Lucy McEachern.
Beatrice Magalotti explores further her career interest in Greek Mythology with a portrayal of “The Fates”, the three sisters who controlled the metaphorical thread of life of every mortal from birth to death
Clotho (Spinner), Lachesis (Allotter) and Atropos (Inflexible).
U.K based Laura Jane Wylder returns the beautiful, tranquil Ella and Luna to the gallery after several years, her figurative forms inspired by her background in Classical Ballet.
Bruce Webb excites with strong, new contemporary scultpure and paintings that complement his love of colour and form. Traditional guards and sentries form inspiration, and the bounty of the harvest.
George Lianos continues his study of the female form, diverging between organic curves and the geometric structure that stem from his background in graphic design.
As a leading sculptor of birds, Lucy McEachern launches a new design in bronze. Lucy has had many successes and accolades, one of the most recent was the selection in the prestigious “Birds in Art 2018” Exhibition at the Woodson museum in Wisconin USA for the seventh year.
