Martin Goldin migrated from South Africa where he practiced as an Ear, Nose and Throat Surgeon. Inspired by the wooden carvings he was exposed to by the locals in his early days of medicine, Martin began sculpting himself.
Moving to Australia and easing into retirement, Martin has found more time to dedicate to his sculpture practice. He is a member of the Association of Sculptors Victoria and received an Honorable Mention for his work “Carmen” in the 2017 Annual Awards.
Most of his sculptures are done in wood as he has a great love of the feel, the aroma and wonderful grain and contours of the wood, often suggesting the form the sculptures would take. Selected wooden sculptures are cast in bronze. Martin’s works are generally stylized and abstract forms.
